Mount Etna Eruption Unlikely to Impact Tunisian Territory, Says Meteorological Institute
The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) has confirmed that the ongoing eruption of Mount Etna in Italy is not expected to negatively impact Tunisian territory or its neighboring regions.
Mount Etna, situated in Sicily approximately 400 km north of Tunisia, has been active for several days.
Satellite imagery analyzed by the INM indicates that the sulphur dioxide emitted by the volcano remains high in the atmosphere, posing no threat to Tunisia.
Additionally, data from three air quality monitoring stations operated by the INM show that sulphur dioxide levels at ground level have remained consistently low to negligible between July 3 and July 7, 2024.
