Nabil Ammar: Tunisia reaffirms its commitment to respect human rights
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that during his working visit to Geneva, the Minister Nabil Ammar met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on Wednesday, March 01, 2023.
On this occasion, the Minister recalled the historic commitment of Tunisia to human rights, stressing the fact that Tunisian authorities ensure a total respect for human rights and Tunisian laws, contrary to what is conveyed, on purpose, to avoid revealing the responsibilities engaged in the undertaking of such a serious action.
He reaffirmed that all Tunisian citizens are equal before the law without any distinction.
Tunisia is making steady progress towards genuine democratic reform through the establishment of the institutions provided for the new constitution, which enshrines the protection of rights and freedom, he stressed.
In another connection, the Foreign Minister underlined the need to restitute the Tunisian funds embezzled abroad, which he said is the subject of a draft resolution tabled at the initiative of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, to the 52nd Regular Session of the Human Rights Council
