About thirty attempts to cross the sea borders illegally were thwarted by the Tunisian National Guard units between October 15 and 21.

They arrested 432 illegal migrants, 44 smugglers and facilitators and 30 wanted persons,

stated the General Directorate of the National Guard.

The units of the National Guard also rescued 44 irregular migrants from foreign nationality and recovered two bodies during the same period.

They also uncovered two boat-building workshops and destroyed 21 boats, according to the same source.

The National Guard units also foiled 156 attempts to cross the land border illegally and arrested 2,231 migrants and 12 smugglers and middlemen involved in illegal migration operations.
