OACA: No impact on the airport's operations in Tunisia after the Microsoft global IT outage
"The massive IT outage at Microsoft on Friday has not affected airport operations in Tunisia," stated Montassar Ben Hmida, CEO of the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA).
"So far, this outage has had no impact on our flight operations or airport management," confirmed OACA IT Director Ghazi Ziada. He further clarified, "The issue is not global. It has only impacted specific international sites to which we have no direct connection. Our airports rely not just on internet connections but also on business supports, providing a level of security in case of such problems."
Ziada also mentioned, "We have recently enhanced connections on national and international routes to mitigate potential issues at international hubs that could affect us." He added, "The flight disruptions reported at various airports worldwide have not yet impacted our national flight schedule."
On Friday, a significant IT outage disrupted critical systems worldwide, affecting airports, banks, hospitals, and millions of other businesses, leading to widespread chaos. The issue seemed to affect computers running Microsoft operating systems and was believed to be related to a faulty patch update from the global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.
