Phone Call Between the Tunisian FM and His Libyan Counterpart
Yesterday Friday, July 7, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, held a telephone conversation with his Libyan counterpart Najla Mangoush, stated the Tunisian Ministry.
This conversation was mainly about brotherly relations, the state of bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it at all levels.
This call also came within the framework of the permanent consultations between senior officials of the two brotherly countries on the most important regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the issue of irregular migration and ways to combat it within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and considering it as a cross-border issue that worries both the countries of the North and the countries of the South, according to the same source.
In this context, the two Ministers touched upon the presence of a number of sub-Saharan African migrants on the Tunisian-Libyan border, where both sides expressed their keenness to address this issue within the framework of full respect for the laws in force in both countries and relevant international laws and conventions, including emphasizing the humanitarian dimension and the need to respect it, considering these migrants, victims of organized crime networks and human trafficking before they were irregular migrants.
