The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that Tunisia is following with concern the ongoing events in Sudan and the clashes that broke out on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the capital Khartoum, between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (paramilitary).

Tunisia voiced deep concern about the security situation in Sudan and its repercussions on the political process in this country, according to the same source.

In this regard, Tunisia calls on all parties to exercise restraint, reason and de-escalation and encourages them to engage in dialogue in order to defuse the crisis, preserve the stability of this country and protect the property of its people.

Earlier today, April 16, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Tunisians abroad, Mr. Nabil Ammar, made a phone call with our diplomatic mission in Khartoum, to learn about the conditions of the Tunisian community residing in Sudan and to check on the conditions of their residence, in light of the current developments in this country.

The Minister directed the members of the mission to the importance of securing continuous communication with members of the community, listening to them and the difficulties they may encounter, and extending a helping hand to them when necessary.

The Minister also stressed the importance of being vigilant and taking the available measures to secure the headquarters of the diplomatic mission in Khartoum.
