
The Minister of Interior receives the USA Assistant Secretary of State
The Tunisian Ministry of Interior stated that yesterday evening, the Minister of Inetrior Taoufik Charfeddine received at the ministry headquarters the USA Assistant Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Ezra Zia, accompanied by the US Deputy Assistant of State for the International Bureau for Drug Control and Law Enforcement and the USA Ambassador to Tunisia Donald Bloom.
The meeting focused on the existing cooperation between the two countries in the security field and ways for more support, as well as discussing aspects of future cooperation, especially in the field of combatting terrorism and organized crime, securing borders and bilateral cooperation in training in internal security forces to keep pace with the technological and digital developments in the security field.
They also discussed the Tunisian efforts made and what were achieved in the field of security and ensuring stability within the framework of preserving public rights and freedoms.
From her side, the USA Assistant Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights expressed the willingness of the United States of America to further support Tunisia in order to achieve a balance between law enforcement and maintaining public security for Tunisians and the foreign community on one hand, and ensuring rights and freedoms on the other hand.
