
The Tunisian FM meets with the UN Special Representative for Libya
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister Nabil Ammar met today, Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the ministry’s headquarters, with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya Abdoulaye Bathily.
The meeting was an opportunity to review the latest developments in the political process in Libya and Tunisia's central role in this process.
The UN envoy reviewed the efforts made with the various parties and international partners to strengthen the dialogue between the Libyan stakeholders with a view to organizing elections as soon as possible.
In this regard, he underlined the positions of Tunisia, which has always supported the process of political settlement in Libya.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated Tunisia's position in favor of an inter-Libyan consensual solution guaranteeing the unity and territorial integrity of Libya.
He also stressed Tunisia's readiness to provide all necessary support to the Libyan people and to the UN's efforts to restore peace, security and development in the country.
