The President of the Tunisian Republic, Kais Saied, received today, Monday, April 11, 2022, at Carthage Palace, the European Parliamentarians: Michael Gahler, Andrea Cozzolino, Jakop Dalunde and Javier Nart.

In this meeting, the President of the Republic reviewed the reasons behind taking some special measures since July 25, 2021, stressing, in this context, his full keenness to end this exceptional period by implementing the announced steps.

He also indicated that the national dialogue has already started and it will be based on the results of the electronic consultation, in order to prepare for holding the referendum, and fair and free legislative elections.

The president, Kais Saied, recalled his commitment to preserving the unity and continuity of the Tunisian State, guaranteeing its sovereignty and the independence of its national decision.

And he confirmed his firm keenness to promote respect for human rights and preserve freedoms, as well as working on building a strong democratic state that guarantees freedom of expression and aspirations to all Tunisian people.

During this meeting, many topics related to the national dialogue were reviewed, next to the affirmation of the common determination to enhance the strong ties between Tunisia and the European Union on the basis of common values and interests.
