The Tunisian President, Kais Saied, received today evening, August 26, 2022, at Carthage Palace, the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi, who handed to the Head of State a written message from the Japanese Prime Minister.

The meeting reviewed the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and Japan as well as ways to expand and diversify them, the Presidency said in a statement.

President Saied expressed Tunisia's readiness to offer an appropriate investment climate to Japanese businessmen and to create promising business opportunities for both parties in various fields.

The President mentioned the medical city project in Kairouan, and the seawater desalination project in the south, urging the Japanese side to contribute to financing these projects.

The works of the Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa (TICAD 8), were also reviewed in this meeting.
