
The Tunisian President received the Qatari PM and Interior Minister
The Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia stated that today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the President Kais Saied received, at Carthage Palace, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, who is on a working visit to Tunisia at the head of an official delegation.
This meeting dealt with a number of issues related to the strong brotherly relations between Tunisia and Qatar, where the President of the Republic stressed that many investment and development projects remained stalled and must find their way to implementation and overcome all obstacles that stand in the way of their implementation.
This meeting was also an occasion during which the President of the Republic renewed his congratulations to Qatar for the brilliant organization of the FIFA World Cup, indicating that the success of the State of Qatar in this global event is a success for all Arabs.
For his part, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior expressed his country's readiness to finance or contribute to several projects in Tunisia, such as the production platform in Sidi Bouzid and the Children's Hospital in Manouba, as well as cooperation in the sports field by transferring one of the stadiums that hosted the recent World Cup finals to Tunisia.
The meeting also touched on Tunisians working in various sectors in Qatar, which is one aspect of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, where the joint readiness to enhance the presence of Tunisian competencies and cadres in Qatar was emphasized, and to diversify areas of technical cooperation and exchange experiences in several sectors.
The points raised on the agenda of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which will be held in Tunisia on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, were one of the axes of the conversation, as the President of the Republic stressed that solutions that could eliminate organized crime and terrorism must be based on addressing the causes that led to the exacerbation of these phenomena.
