The Embassy of the United States of America in Tunisia published on its Facebook page on June 2, 2022, the Press Briefing by the  State Department's Spokesperson Ned Price which stated that the President Kais Saied’s June 1 decrees dismissing 57 judges and amending the rules governing the Provisional Supreme Judicial Council are  an alarming pattern of steps that have undermined Tunisia’s independent democratic institutions.

Adding that the American authorities  have consistently communicated to Tunisian officials about the importance of checks and balances in the democratic system, and that they  continue to urge the Tunisian government to pursue an inclusive and transparent reform process with input from civil society and diverse political voices, in the aim to strengthen the legitimacy of reform efforts.
