
Tunisia, Algeria: Discussing Ways to Further Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
On July 29, 2024, Tunisia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, met with Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of Algeria's National People's Assembly, during Boughali's working visit to Tunisia from July 26 to 29, 2024.
Minister Ammar highlighted the deep, fraternal, and historic ties between Tunisia and Algeria, emphasizing the shared commitment of both nations' leaders to elevate their cooperation to a comprehensive and strategic partnership, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in combatting terrorism and irregular migration, and developing joint strategies for the border areas' development.
Both parties explored ways to strengthen economic cooperation, addressing challenges hindering trade flows and promoting joint investment, especially in the energy and renewable energy sectors. The meeting also reaffirmed the alignment of Tunisia and Algeria's views on various regional and international issues, including their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and condemnation of the aggression against the Palestinian people.
The meeting underscored the mutual determination to advance their partnership for the benefit of both nations.
