Wafik Boufaied, the CEO of the Tunisian National Railway Company, has announced that the first official trips of the Tunisia-Algeria train will commence before the end of July next year. He emphasized that the final decision is a political one, depending on diplomatic coordination between the two countries.

Boufaied revealed that the one-way fare will be between 40 and 50 dinars. The train will run daily, with trips from Annaba to Tunis on the first day and from Tunis to Annaba on the following day.

In a statement to the national radio on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Boufaied explained that preparations are currently underway in collaboration with Algerian authorities. These efforts aim to facilitate the travel of Algerians, especially during the tourism season, and to ease the movement of Tunisians to Algeria.
