
Tunisia celebrates Irbid ‘Capital of Arabic Culture’ in Jordan
The Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, Dr.Hayat Ketat Guermazi, participated, on June 12, 2022, in the opening ceremony of "Irbid, the capital of Arab culture" in Jordan, in the presence of the Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr.Bishr Al-Khasawneh, several Arab ministers for cultural affairs, the Director- General of the ALECSO and a delegation from the Arab League, as well as many representatives from regional and Arabic organizations.
In her intervention, the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs congratulated the Kingdom of Jordan for choosing Irbid as the capital of Arab culture for the year 2022, and she added that this Jordanian city has all the specifications to be so, stressing that all Arab cities are beautiful and they are all cities of culture.
She also indicated that Tunisia is in the process of building a new history, adding, "We are making our way with pride and power to build a new Tunisia."
She emphasized that in Tunisia, the government always places culture at the forefront of its attention and concern, " we are now in the process of setting out the broad outlines of the major reforms that will accompany the emergence of the Third Republic of Tunisia, in which it is always a pleasure to live." She continued.
She recalled its ministry's support for cultural industries by valuing individual initiatives of thinkers and creators in order to invest in people, making cultural industries a major driver for achieving comprehensive development.
On the margin of her participation, the Tunisian Minister met with the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, together with her Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts, the representative of the representative of the Omani Minister of Culture and the Director of Jerash Festival.
