Tunisia condemns Israeli Forces’ Raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque
Tunisia strongly condemned a raid by Israeli forces on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and their assault on worshippers. The raid was "a blatant provocation against Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan and a clear violation of international treaties," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad said in a statement today Wednesday. Tunisia "holds the Israeli occupation forces responsible for the consequences that may arise in the Palestinian territories following this assault, which it considers a serious violation of human rights," the ministry said. Tunisia reiterated its call on the international community to "assume its full legal and moral responsibility towards the Palestinian people." It also stressed the need to provide the Palestinian people with the necessary protection and to put an end to these repeated violations. The legitimacy of international resolutions must be respected, the same source added. Dozens of worshippers were targeted in a violent attack by the occupation forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday night. The occupation forces stormed the mosque, firing stun grenades and rubber bullets and throwing tear gas canisters. |
