Tunisia did not record any case of the new variant of Coronavirus (BQ1.1)

The new variant of the Coronavirus, which is currently spreading in some countries, is not as dangerous as the other strains, the Director General of the National Centre of Pharmacovigilance and Member of the Scientific Committee to combat the Coronavirus Riadh Daghfous said on Monday, December 5, 2022.

Daghfous told TAP that the BQ1.1 variant is spreading rapidly in Europe, particularly in France, adding that 50% of new cases are affected by this new strain.

Tunisia has not recorded any case so far, Daghfous pointed out, urging citizens to comply with health protocols so as to fight against the various variants of coronavirus.

Patients diagnosed with BQ1.1 variant have symptoms of diarrhea, nausea, and stomach aches, he added.
