
Tunisia, Iraq: discussing ways to develop bilateral touristic cooperation
This morning, Friday, April 28, 2023, the Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Mohamed El-Moez Belhoussein, received the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani and his accompanying delegation, in order to discuss ways to develop bilateral cooperation in the touristic field and its related activities, on the occasion of his working visit to Tunisia within the framework of the participation of the Republic of Iraq as a guest of honor in the 37th session of the Tunis International Book Fair, according to a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism.
During the meeting, the two ministers affirmed the depth of the historical ties that bind the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and the joint keenness to advance bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interest of the two peoples in many economic fields, especially the tourism sector.
Many aspects of cooperation were discussed to activate joint work through the establishment of a series of workshops and programs to develop a joint work map with specific goals in the field of exchanging experiences, training workers in the tourism sector, and developing joint tourism products, including cultural and intellectual tourism, business tourism, conferences, medical, therapeutic and sports tourism, in cooperation with the ministries and structures concerned and the private sector in the two countries, as well as pushing Iraqi investments in Tunisia in this field.
For his part, the Tunisian Minister praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing Tunisia's desire to strengthen these relations while working to provide all facilities for Iraqi tourists to come in large numbers to Tunisia and for investors to develop their projects.
Furthermore, the Iraqi minister expressed his happiness at being in Tunisia, highlighting the long-standing historical relations that unite the two brotherly countries, stressing the desire to develop these relations in various economic fields, especially the tourism sector.
He stressed, in a related context, the importance of facilitating the process of delegations of Iraqi tourists and businessmen to Tunisia, especially with regard to facilitating the granting of entry visas and their procedures, as well as the need to open a direct flight line between the two countries.
