Tunisia, Italy: discussing bilateral military cooperation
Discussions regarding enhanced military collaboration between Tunisia and Italy took precedence as Tunisian Minister of Defense Imed Memmich met with the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas on Monday. According to a press release from the ministry, preparations for the 25th session of the Military Commission were also addressed during the meeting.
Minister Memmich acknowledged the enduring relationship between Tunisia and Italy, underscored by their geographic proximity and shared security concerns. Emphasizing the need for bolstered military cooperation, he highlighted areas such as training, expertise sharing, joint operations development, and close coordination to secure borders against threats like terrorism, organized crime, and illegal migration. These efforts, he emphasized, should be rooted in trust and mutual respect.
Ambassador Prunas praised the existing military collaboration between the two nations, including their involvement in tripartite cooperation initiatives.
He also expressed Italy's commitment to continuing collaboration with Tunisia to ensure the stability and security of the Mediterranean region, according to the same source.
