Tunisia, Libya: Agreement to create food security port terminal
A shared vision for the creation of a food security port terminal through the processing and storage of food products serving Tunisia and Libya and neighboring countries was outlined on Wednesday, December 1, 2022, by the Tunisian Transport Minister, Rabii Majidi and his Libyan counterpart, Mohamed Salem Chahoubi.
During a meeting held in the margins of the Head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah’s two-day visit to Tunisia (November 30-December 1), the two transport ministers further agreed to step up public transport between both countries and share expertise in matters of training in the sea, land and rail transport, ports and civil aviation.
The meeting also offered the occasion to examine the best ways to implement the recommendations of the bilateral meeting held recently in Libya between the two ministers on improving land, sea and air links between the two countries and the conditions for the movement of people and goods through the border crossings, notably Ras Jedir.
Also, the two officials pointed out willingness to boost cooperation in order to seize investment opportunities in Africa by increasing air services to African countries.
