
Tunisia to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad stated that under the instructions of the President of the Republic, the Minister Nabil Ammar will lead the Tunisian Delegation participating in the High-Level Segment of the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, during the period from September 18 to 23, 2023 in New York.
The Minister will deliver Tunisia's statement to the General Debate of this session which has the theme "Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all”.
The Minister will also represent Tunisia in various high-level events inscribed on the session's agenda, especially the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the Climate Ambition Summit, the High-Level Meeting on financing for development, the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Future Summit and the High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly on Universal Health Coverage, according to the ministry.
During these events, the Minister will carry the voice of Africa within the framework of the Tunisian presidency of the African Group in New York for the current month.
In addition to these important events, the Minister will participate particularly in the Consultations of the Arab Foreign Ministers, in the Ministerial Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in the Meeting of the Special Liaison Committee for the coordination of international assistance to Palestinians (AHLC), in the Ministerial Meeting on strengthening African cooperation in the fight against terrorism as well as in the African Union Peace and Security Council Meeting.
In addition, several bilateral meetings are on the Minister's agenda with his counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries aimed at strengthening cooperation ties and discussing opportunities for diversifying partnerships with our Country.
Other meetings are also planned with senior UN officials and Heads of international and regional organizations to further strengthen cooperation between Tunisia and these organizations.
On top priorities of the Tunisian participation in this session are the support for national economic recovery efforts, the issue of financing for development, the recovery of looted funds, the management of the food and energy crises, the collective fight against the root causes of irregular migration as well as the climate action.
In addition to these priorities, the Tunisian delegation will reaffirm the foundations of Tunisian foreign policy, in particular the respect for international legality, the support for just causes, first and foremost the Palestinian question, the respect for the sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs and the resolution of conflicts by peaceful means, stated the ministry.
