Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar met with his Cameroonian counterpart, Mbella Mbella, today, at the opening of the 11th session of the Tunisian-Cameroonian Joint Committee in Yaoundé, Cameroon on April 26 and 27.

During this meeting, the Cameroonian minister emphasized the significance his country attaches to this bilateral event at the apex of power, reflecting the quality of distinguished relations between the two nations, said a Ministry statement on Friday evening.

He also conveyed a message to President Kais Saied from his Cameroonian counterpart, expressing the Cameroonian side's willingness to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with Tunisia to serve as an exemplary model for successful relations between African countries.

In this regard, he reminded that both Tunisia and Cameroon have made significant progress in activating the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, evidenced by the Cameroonian side receiving its first shipment of Tunisian products in July 2023.

In turn, Minister Ammar affirmed that the convening of this session of the Tunisian-Cameroonian Joint Committee and the participation of a significant Tunisian delegation comprising 20 representatives from Tunisian government bodies, along with the presence of the President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts Samir Majoul, reflects the Tunisian political leadership's keenness to give new impetus to the dynamics of cooperation. This will soon witness a significant leap with the prospect of opening a direct air route between Tunisia and Cameroon, he added.

The meeting discussed various bilateral cooperation files and matters on several regional and international issues, according to the same source.

Both sides emphasized the importance of coordination and consultation between the two countries in various regional and international forums to support and advocate for just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue.
