Tunisian FM Meets with China's Special Envoy for the Middle East

On Friday, July 5, 2024, Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, welcomed Zhai Jun, Special Envoy for the Middle East of the People's Republic of China, who is on a working visit to Tunisia.

The meeting covered several topics of mutual interest, particularly focusing on the recent visit of the President of the Republic to Beijing. Zhai Jun commended the visit, highlighting its success on all fronts, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.

Discussion also touched on the upcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit, set to be held in Beijing in early September 2024. Zhai Jun expressed his hope that Tunisia would participate at the highest level.

The Chinese Special Envoy also acknowledged the shared positions of Tunisia and China on the Palestinian issue.

Minister Ammar emphasized the significance of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, underscoring the opportunities it presents for bilateral and multilateral partnerships and investments across the African continent. He confirmed that Tunisia aims to participate at the highest possible level.

On the Palestinian issue, Minister Ammar reaffirmed Tunisia's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the inalienable and timeless rights of the Palestinian people, asserting that their legitimate demands for independence, self-determination, and the establishment of a fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital must be met, regardless of the prolonged aggression and genocide they face.
