
Tunisian FM met with his Congolese Counterpart
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister, Nabil Ammar, held a meeting today, Monday, February 12, 2024, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, of the Francophonie and Congolese abroad of the Republic of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso, at the headquarters of the ministry.
The meeting provided an opportunity "to review the long-standing and distinguished relations" between both countries. Both Foreign Ministers highlighted the importance of "holding the next Tunisian-Congolese Joint Commission as soon as possible," according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad.
Furthermore, the meeting facilitated discussions on the findings of the Summit of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, held February 5 in Brazzaville, according to the same source.
On this occasion, the Tunisian Minister praised the Republic of Congo's mediation efforts with the various Libyan stakeholders as part of the preparations for the National Reconciliation Conference, due next April in Sirte, Libya.
Preparations for the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union and the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, were also discussed during this meeting, added the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
