Tunisian Health Minister urges priority for Palestinian health crisis
At the 60th regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers in Geneva, Tunisian Health Minister, Ali Mrabet, emphasized the urgent need to prioritize the health situation in Palestine, according to a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Health.
He condemned the "barbaric" actions of the Zionist occupying forces against innocent Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, and called for an immediate ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid and the lifting of the embargo on Palestinian territories.
Tunisia stands firm in supporting the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state with Al Quds as its capital.
The session, presided over by Iraq, is part of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly taking place from May 27 to June 1, 2024.
Tunisian Minister of Health stressed the importance of coordinating Arab countries' positions on issues addressed by the World Health Organization, particularly regarding the adoption of the 14th WHO Action Program for 2025-2028.
Additionally, Mrabet highlighted Tunisia's progress in hosting a Coordination Office of the Arab Council for Medical Specializations, aimed at enhancing training for Arab healthcare professionals in relief efforts. He also engaged in discussions with Arab Health Ministers and the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean during the event.
