Tunisian President met with the Amir of Qatar In Algiers

On the margins of his participation in the 7th Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum held on Algiers, Tunisian President, Kais Saied, met with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, today, March 2, 2024, according to a statement by the Tunisian Presidency.

During this meeting, the Tunisian President emphasized Tunisia's strong commitment to continuing to work together to further strengthen the close relations and distinguished partnership with Qatar in several areas.

He also reiterated Tunisia’s steadfast position on the Palestinian issue and its standing by the side of the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, the Qatari Amir praised the strong relations between the two countries and indicated that Qatar would continue to stand by Tunisia and support its economy, particularly through enhancing investments and implementing development projects. He also commended the increasing numbers and efficiency of the Tunisian community working in Qatar.

The two sides agreed during this meeting to convene the Joint High Committee in Doha at the earliest opportunity, which will provide a suitable framework for implementing investment projects in several sectors and enhancing the coordination of economic, commercial, and cultural exchange, as well as recruiting Tunisian labor and expertise, according to the same source.

They finally agreed to exchange visits soon to further strengthen consultation and coordination between the two leaderships.
