With the Ukrainian Flag by his side, Zelensky spoke during an unprecedented intervention aiming to obtain more support for his country after the Russian attack, and this amid a warm welcome by British MPs.

He said that from the first day of the Russian attack on Ukraine, that is, February 24, "we did not sleep, we fought for our country through our army". He also added "we will not surrender and we will not lose", and "we will fight till the end in the sea and in the air. We will continue to fight for our land no matter what, in the forests, in the fields, on the beaches, in the streets".

It is important to notice that Zelensky’s intervention comes shortly after the British government declared that the UK would halt the Russian imports of crude oil and petroleum products by the end of 2022as a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
