The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken met today, Friday, with the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, Jordan, to discuss Hamas attack on Israel and especially repercussions in the occupied West Bank.

During that meeting, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that he “rejects the forced displacement” of Palestinians from Gaza, following Israel’s order for all of the enclave’s civilians to move to the south.

He added that such an event would constitute a “second Nakba”, referring to the mass displacement of Palestinians in the 1948 war surrounding Israel’s creation, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

He also said that humanitarian corridors must be allowed in the blockaded coastal enclave immediately to prevent a humanitarian disaster, the report said.

For his part, the American Diplomat reiterated "the United States’ unequivocal condemnation of the abhorrent terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel" and "detailed U.S. efforts to coordinate with partners to prevent the conflict from widening," according to the State Department.

The United States Secretary of State also extended his condolences to the families of Palestinian civilian victims of this conflict, and reiterated that Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to dignity, freedom, justice, and self-determination.

Blinken also thanked Abbas for his efforts to "further calm" the region and he "reaffirmed the United States commitment to cooperation with the Palestinian leadership and people on efforts to ensure security for all,"

Next to Israel, Blinken is in a tour to five Arab Countries: Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt.
