
The Tunisian FM participates in The "Voice of the Global South Summit2023"
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister, Mr. Othman Jerandi, Minister participated today, January 12, 2023, in the virtual summit titled "Voice of the Global South Summit2023" organized by India on January 12 and 13, with the participation of about 140 countries, in order to review the challenges facing developing countries and ways to formulate a number of Common perceptions and visions to be presented during the next summit of the Group of Twenty, which will be chaired by India during the current year.
The Tunisian Minister stressed the magnitude of the enormous challenges facing the countries of the South, which are considered the most affected by the economic and social repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the escalating geopolitical tensions, in addition to the food and energy crises, climate change and the exacerbation of economic and financial instability as a result of increasing external debt pressures.
Mr. Jerandi also highlighted that the magnitude of the challenges ahead and the creation of appropriate conditions for achieving economic recovery requires developing countries to show solidarity and cooperation, unify their efforts and work to define their priorities within a common vision in order to ensure that they are addressed more effectively, calling for the need to focus on strengthening joint economic programs and projects between the countries of the South in highly productive fields and sectors such as infrastructure, blue and green economy, innovation and renewable energies.
