
Working session between the Defense Minister and Commander of AFRICOM
The Tunisian Minister of National Defense, Imed Memmish, received today, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Ministry headquarters, the Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Michael E.Langley, who is making his first visit to Tunisia since taking office.
The meeting was mainly about the Tunisian-US cooperation in the military field, and ways to further strengthen it, according to a statement by the Ministry.
A working session, chaired by Minister Memmish and attended by senior military officials of both countries took place after the meeting.
The session reviewed “the results of field military cooperation, particularly in training and providing equipment.”
The Minister commended the excellent level of military cooperation with the United States of America, reaffirming Tunisia's readiness to boost this cooperation and to expand its prospects and fields, in the interest of both countries.
The AFRICOM Commander said the meeting “offered a perfect opportunity to review the deep and strong military relations between the two friendly countries,” emphasizing the US readiness to further develop the areas of cooperation.
