Weapons and ammunition were seized, Thursday at dawn in Ben Guerdane, governorate of Medenine, by a special unit of the National Guard and another unit under the counter-terrorism directorate.

The weapons consisted of 11 Kalashinkov rifles, 14 ammunition magazines and 4,400 rounds of 7.62 caliber, spokesman for the National Guard Houssem Jebabli said in a post.

Jebabli added that this operation has been carried out on instructions of the prosecutor's office of the counter-terrorism judicial division.

Besides, two individuals involved in crimes of arms trafficking for the benefit of terrorist organizations had been recently arrested in Ben Guerdane, he specified.
