
Doha: The 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs
The 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held on January 25 and 26 in Doha, approved two projects on the care of people with disabilities proposed by Tunisia, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
These two projects concern developing a center for autistic children and a rehabilitation center for the motor disabled.
The Tunisian Social Affairs Minister, Malek Ezzahi, leading the Tunisian delegation at this session, stressed Tunisia's commitment to social justice and promoting the social protection system in order to ensure decent living conditions for all categories.
He reviewed the new social policy on integration and economic empowerment through self-employment and entrepreneurship, through the application of an economic empowerment program for disadvantaged and low-income people, people with disabilities and unemployed higher education graduates.
The Tunisian Minister mentioned the creation of the International Centre for the Advancement of People with Disabilities, specialized in the implementation of education programs for this category unable to integrate the school system and the realization of research, studies, training and documentation.
The Minister also stressed the importance of joint Arab action to develop policies and approaches aimed at promoting disadvantaged social categories and their economic and social integration. He called to bolster efforts to apply the decisions of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
