
Erdogan hosts Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul
(Aljazeera) – Negotiations between Russian and Ukraine began today, March 29,2022, in Istanbul, amid Turkish assurances that a solution could be reached as the Russian war in Ukraine entered its fifth week.
The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said in a speech to the two delegations that negotiations have entered the stage where decisive results must be reached, and he added that it is possible to reach a solution that guarantees the interests of both parties.
Ergoğan stated that Turkey, as a mediator, will provide the negotiating parties with all the reasons for the success of their efforts, pointing out that his country has made what he called sincere efforts at all levels to stop this escalation.
He stressed that Turkey will not abandon its responsibility to achieve peace and security in the region because the continuation of this conflict does not serve any part.
Russian negotiators arrived to Istanbul on Monday, where a previous negotiation sessions was held on March 10 at the level of foreign ministers, but it did not lead to any result.
