
Italy Reaffirms Continued Support for Renewable Energy Projects in Tunisia
On Monday, July 22, 2024, Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy Fatma Thabet Chaiboub met with a high-level delegation of Italian energy sector representatives, headed by Lorenzo Ortona, Advisor to the Italian Prime Minister. The meeting centered on Tunisian-Italian cooperation in the energy sector.
The Italian official reaffirmed Italy's commitment to supporting renewable energy projects in Tunisia, including the electric interconnection project between Tunisia and Italy. He emphasized the importance of initiating new projects in the coming period.
The discussion also explored future cooperation prospects between the two countries, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and its derivatives. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships with Italian companies to leverage their expertise in the sector.
Fatma Thabet Chaiboub underscored the importance of advancing the production of renewable energy and green hydrogen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a low-carbon green economy.
