The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, stated on its Facebook page that the Minister Mr. Othman Jerandi, is heading the Tunisian delegation participating in the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union’s Executive Council on May 25, 2022 held in Malabo, Equtorial Guinea.

He will also represent the President of the Republic at the "Humanitarian Summit and Donors' Symposium" and at the "16th Extraordinary Session of African Heads of States and Governments on terrorism and unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa” which will be held on 27-28 May 2022 in Malabo.

These meetings are taking place in light of exceptional circumstances characterized by the increasing humanitarian needs and the growing threats to peace, security and stability, which impede development in the continent, as climate changes and the refugee crisis in addition to the Corona pandemic and its economic and social repercussions have left an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in many regions of the continent. The danger emanating from terrorism, violent extremism and armed conflicts has also deepened and exacerbated this crisis.

On the occasion of these meetings, a number of decisions and recommendations will be adopted in the aim of preventing risks facing the African peoples and contributing to securing the appropriate conditions for achieving the “2063 Development Agenda”.

During this his visit, Mr. Othman Jerandi will hold a number of meetings with his African counterparts and African Union officials, to follow up on bilateral relations, discuss ways to enhance them, and exchange views on various issues on the agenda of the Executive Council and the two African summits.
