
Othman Jerandi met the Canadian Ambassador to Tunisia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, stated on its Facebook page, that the Minister Othman Jerandi received yesterday, Tuesday, May 11, 2022, the Ambassador of Canada to Tunisia, Patrice Cousineau.
This meeting was an occasion to review the distinguished friendly relations, as the two countries celebrate this year the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between them.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stressed the importance to further develop bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest. He highlighted the priority that Tunisia gives in strengthening economic cooperation with Canada, especially in benefitting from the Canadian experience to develop and restructure the agricultural sector.
He also expressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of exchanging experiences between the two countries and employing youth competencies.
The meeting was also an occasion where the Minister renewed the invitation to the Canadian side to participate in the upcoming Francophone Summit at the highest levels.
From his part, the Canadian ambassador stressed on the close relations and distinguished partnership that unites the two countries, and he expressed his country's keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields and to further advance the development programs, directed in particular to women and youth.
In the same context, he referred to the growing interest of Canadian companies in the Tunisian workforce and in strengthening partnerships in promising sectors such as information and communication technologies.
On the light of the latest international updates like the repercussions of the Ukrainian crisis, the Canadian ambassador praised Tunisia's commitment to its principled positions by adhering to international legitimacy and giving priority to diplomacy and peaceful means of settling disputes in accordance with the Charter of the UN.
