Today, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the President of the Tunisian Republic Kais Saied received the Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini at Carthage Palace.

During this meeting, the President of the Republic affirmed Tunisia's keenness to further consolidate the historical friendship ties that unite it with Italy, and which was manifested in the previous period through mutual support to confront the Covid-19 pandemic, next to the development of cooperation and partnership mechanisms in all fields, as well as strengthening the existing consultation and coordination between the two countries.

From his part, the Italian Minister of Defense praised the depth and strength of the Tunisian-Italian relations, and reiterated his country's commitment to supporting Tunisia bilaterally, at the European level and with the international donor organizations.

This meeting also represented an occasion during which topics related to military cooperation between the two countries were discussed within the framework of the 23rd Session of the Joint Tunisian-Italian Military Committee. In addition to the issue of irregular immigration according to a new common approach, and exchanging views on current regional and international issues of common interest.
