
Tunisia, Britain: strengthening cooperation in the field of energy
The Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy stated that today, Friday, June 3, 2022, the Minister, Mrs.Nayla Nouira Gonji, received at the Ministry headquarters the British Ambassador to Tunisia, Mrs. Helen Winterto.
This meeting represented an occasion to review the Tunisian-British economic cooperation, especially in the field of energy, hydrocarbons and renewable energies.
The upcoming visit, next week, of the British Minister of State for South and Central Asia, North Africa, United Nations and Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Mahmoud Ahmed, was discussed and where it is expected that a memorandum of understanding will be signed between Tunisia and Britain in the field of sustainable energies.
With regard to strengthening the partnership in the renewable energies sector, the Tunisian Minister indicated that Tunisia aspires to reach 35% of electricity from renewable energies by 2030 and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on the climate through the use of alternative energies such as solar energy, wind energy and green hydrogen production.
