
Tunisia, Iraq: Signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the water resources
The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries recently announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with its Iraqi counterpart, encompassing the water resources sector.
According to a statement released by the ministry today, Friday, May 3, 2024, the memorandum was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Abdelmonem Belaati, along with his Iraqi counterpart, Minister of Water Resources, Awn Dhiab Abdullah.
The aim of this agreement is to find effective ways to keep pace with technological and research developments, exchange expertise in the field, as well as promote economic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Tunisia, represented by a delegation led by Belaati, is participating in the fourth International Water Conference in Baghdad from April 27 to 29, 2024.
The conference is dedicated to discussing water challenges and enhancing partnerships in the water sector, with the participation of Arab, regional, and international organizations.
Belaati emphasized the importance of demonstrating knowledge exchange, technology, and studies on water use, storage, and treatment in the best possible way to serve the largest possible number of countries and peoples, especially in light of climate change.
