The Tunisian Ministry of National Defense stated that the Minister, Imad Memmich received this morning, February 10, 2023, at the ministry’s headquarters, the new Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Fabrizio Saggio.

During this meeting, the Tunisian Minister praised the long-standing friendship relations that bond the two countries, specifying that Italy is one of Tunisia's most important partners throughout history, especially as both countries are facing the same security challenges.

The Minister further commended the interest lent by Italy to Tunisia's concerns at the security and development levels and its willingness to boost cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, the Ambassador expressed his satisfaction at the level of cooperation in the military and development fields, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels.

He affirmed in this regard, his country's willingness to keep on making every effort to develop the Tunisian army's capabilities, so as to ensure stability and security in the Mediterranean region, which "is facing major security challenges."
