Tunisia, Japan: enhancing cooperation in the medical field

On the margin of the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8) which was hosted by Tunisia on August 27 and 28, the Tunisian Minister of Health, Ali Mrabet, received at the Ministry headquarters on Monday, August 29, 2022, The Director General of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the Eastern Mediterranean  and Europe, Matsunaga Hideki, accompanied by the Permanent Representative of JICA in Tunis, Ueno Shushei, and with the presence of high officials from the Ministry.  

During the meeting, the long-standing cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was reviewed and ways of implementing the Tunisian-Japanese partnership projects in the health field were discussed  as well.

On the occasion, the Tunisian Minister of Health praised the role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Health to confront Covid-19 and the many existing projects between the two sides, in addition to the important opportunities provided by the "TICAD 8" conference to further develop and diversify the partnership between the two countries especially in the fields of cardiology and medical biology.

From his part, the Director General of the Japan International Cooperation Agency for the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe expressed the Japanese side's readiness to continue and develop cooperation with the Ministry of Health in line with the requirements of the health sector.
