Tunisia, Libya: Agreement to intensify bilateral consultation & cooperation

The Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia stated that the President Kais Saied received today, Wednesday, at Carthage Palace, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Mangoush, and the Libyan Minister of Transport, Mohamed Chahoubi, in the Government of National Unity.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the importance of intensifying consultation and cooperation between the two countries in all areas including, in particular, the sectors of economy, investment, energy and security.

On this occasion, the Tunisian Head of State reaffirmed the unwavering position of Tunisia in favor of the resolution of the crisis in Libya, in the framework of an approach based on the unity of its people.

He said that he rejects any foreign interference in the internal affairs of Libya, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic.

The Tunisian President also stressed the need to intensify efforts to achieve the aspirations of the two peoples and to overcome some problems that, he said, are "fabricated" and that may disrupt the relations of brotherhood and cooperation between Tunisia and Libya.

The Head of State has also highlighted the importance of taking up the current challenges and intensifying meetings at all levels, expressing the willingness to implement bilateral agreements.

He stressed the need to diversify them within the framework of a firm will and sincere intentions expressed by both countries.

Several regional and international issues of common interest were also discussed during the meeting.
