
Tunisia, Switzerland: discussing ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation
The Head of the Tunisian Parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, received today, Thursday, May 19, 2023, at the Palace of Bardo, the Swiss Ambassador to Tunisia, Josef Philipp Renggli,
During this meeting, the Swiss ambassador underlined Switzerland's willingness to boost cooperation with Tunisia and its determination to bring further support to it in various fields, namely in economy, governance and democratic transition, according to a statement by the Parliament.
The ambassador also expressed Switzerland's willingness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, stressing the importance of consolidating air transport between the two countries.
Tunisia's proximity to the European space is likely to increase investment in the country as well as multiply cooperation and partnership programs, he pointed out, recalling the large number of Swiss institutions established in Tunisia.
He added that "Tunisia is the 4th industrial force in Africa and has specialized skills."
For his part, the Head of the Tunisian Parliament reiterated "the privileged historical relations between the two countries since the independence days," welcoming the ongoing support provided by Switzerland to Tunisia in all domains.
Bouderbela also put emphasis on parliamentary relations and of doing everything possible to develop them. He also underlined Tunisia's respect for rights and freedoms.
