Tunisia: the host country of the AIMEC headquarters

The Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, and The President of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, signed yesterday, July 14, 2022, an agreement for Tunisia to host the headquarters of the African Inclusive Markets Center of Excellence (AIMEC).

The signing ceremony, which was held on the sidelines of the 41st session of the Executive Council of the African Union currently held in Lusaka, Zambia, was attended by the Commissioner for Trade and Industry of the African Union, Albert Muchanga.

This signing represents the most important step in focusing the Pan-African Center of Excellence in Tunis as an African platform for the public and private sectors in the field of business, integrated market policy, and facilitation of best practices on the African continent.

On this occasion, the Minister affirmed Tunisia's full commitment to providing the necessary facilities to ensure the best conditions for the center's entry into activity as a supporter of the African market and a catalyst for interaction between the African private and public sectors in order to achieve the African Agenda 2063 and the sustainable development in the African continent.

From his part, Moussa Faki Mahamat congratulated Tunisia on hosting this important African institution, stressing his confidence in performing its tasks in the best way in Tunisia, and in contributing  to the service of trade exchange and African integration within the framework of the African Free Trade Area.
