
Tunisia to host the 27th African Reinsurance Forum
The African Insurance Organization (AIO) will organize its 27th African Reinsurance Forum next October 2-4 in Tunis. The event will be hosted by the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA in french) and reinsurance company Tunis Ré. "The Role of Insurance and Re-insurance Companies in Supporting African Economies" will be the theme of the forum amid global economic uncertainties and considering the economic potential of the African continent, FTUSA Executive Director Hatem Amira told TAP. This will be an opportunity for African insurance and re-insurance professionals to exchange expertise and experiences. "Financial links will grow stronger and a boost to sectors of activity is sought," he added. Africa - a mere importer of raw materials -set the ambitious goal of becoming a continent which manages to keep abreast of technology advancement and the principles of digital economy. Over 600 participants from several African, Arab and European countries are expected, along with lecturers and insurance and re-insurance experts. Topping the agenda are global trends in re-insurance, the sector's economic state of play and its contribution to funding infrastructure projects in Africa. Meetings of technical committees and the Executive Committee are slated to be held on October 1. This 27th edition was initially scheduled on October 7-11 in Gabon before being moved at the request of Gabonese authorities over general elections (August 26) which were followed by a military coup. |
