The Tunisian Ministry of Social Affairs stated that today,Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Minister, Malek Zahi, received, at the ministry’s headquarters, The Ambassador of the United States of America to Tunisia, Joey Hood.

During this meeting, the Tunisian Minister reviewed the most important cooperation programs in the social field and investment in human capital through the integrated social service funded by the US Agency for International Development.

He also referred to the need for more joint coordination in the field of social support within an integrated program, and reviewed, by the way, the most important sectors that can be invested in, such as the agricultural sector, the tourism sector, the mining sector and renewable energies, especially since the resources of Tunisia are capable of securing economic and social advancement and that the new Tunisia is on the way to achieving the will of the people in a way that preserves the dignity of the citizen by achieving the caring social state that protects freedoms.

Malek Zahi also affirmed that Tunisia is ready to carry out comprehensive reforms according to an approach that preserves the rights of the poor and limited-income class and preserves social justice in accordance with the direction approved by the President of the Republic.

In another context, he indicated that the Ministry seeks to achieve a comprehensive strategy for migration in cooperation with the National Observatory for Migration and all the active parties to put an end to the phenomenon according to a humanitarian approach while preserving social peace in Tunisia, and called on his guest to coordinate international efforts to find radical solutions.

In the same vein, the American Ambassador praised the strength of the historical relations between the two countries, recalling that Tunisia is an active partner of the United States of America and occupies a prominent position, highlighting his feelings of admiration and pride in the "Social Security" program in Tunisia, and he also explained that Tunisia contains enormous potential for investment in all fields.

It has a strategic position among countries, and thinking about creating new economic financing support sources is important and effective to achieve the desired financial balances.

He also expressed the readiness of the United States of America to provide support for approving the Tunisian file at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
