
Tunisian FM and UN Official Discuss Peacekeeping and Global Conflict Resolution
On June 10th, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, who is visiting Tunisia from June 10 to 11.
They discussed Tunisia's role in UN peacekeeping operations, with Lacroix praising Tunisia's valuable contributions and the professionalism of its personnel in various missions in Africa. He also encouraged greater Tunisian presence in managerial roles, particularly for women, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
Minister Ammar emphasized Tunisia's commitment to peacekeeping and highlighted the increasing dangers faced by UN peacekeepers. He called for international cooperation to resolve conflicts peacefully and reaffirmed Tunisia's dedication to dialogue and peace.
Additionally, he stressed the need for international action against the aggression towards civilians, specifically regarding the Palestinian conflict, advocating for the rights and self-determination of the Palestinian people in line with UN principles, added the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
